Over the Easter weekend we contacted all those who had deferred their entry from 2020, by email, to advise them that we won’t be running the Yorkshire True Grit June event. We’re disappointed and frustrated.
Like you, we love catching up with everyone at the event, we like the drinking and eating. We like the bands, we love chatting with you all whilst listening to a band or two. We love hearing of your adventures out on the routes.
But, this year, it’s not to be. The event was due to take place the weekend before the country “unlocks”. We considered several incarnations of Yorkshire True Grit – no mass start, no fabulous food at the feed station, no private land, no interacting in more than a group of 6, no friends and family coming along etc. etc., None of them appealed. It would have ripped the heart out of the event, and importantly we think running the event this year could have affected the Goodwill that we (and you) have built up over the last five years of Yorkshire True Grits with landowners, residents, the North York Moors National Parks Authority.
So we’re working with Forestry England for an event on 18th September. “Not the 5 Forests”. Get the date in your diary and as it shapes up we’ll let you know more.
